Flexibility in function – Mobility – Personalisation- Lowered Consumption as much as possible

These are the main criterion what the 21 century “average” citizens keep in eye.

If someone has 40-60 K EUR can buy or order a Tiny-House. In Germany they became very popular especially among the older people. They don’t want to take care any more for their houses with garden (a lot of sqm to maintain and keep clean) and to provide the monthly financial needs of these real estates.

Certainly, sustainability is also important in their decision. And the local authorities also support these newly born living circumstances. So the people rather move into a very very small house, which actually rather looks like a caravan, because it is built for their personal needs and has got dramatically lower monthly costs.

First time I heard about it on an Interior Design Lecture at the Köln Messe in 2020 Januar : The maximal size of the flat is 20 m2. In the evening the kitchen automaticly turns into bedroom in a sec., thanks to a pre-programised “intelligent” system.

Since I was at the Köln Messe almost 2 years passed. And the interest for small flats got huge demand everywhere in Europe.

But how futuristic can be these one-room-flats of Vienna? As I see the market, most of them, or the house they are located in, are before renovation, or the flat itself has old standards. Regardless of these facts, it is a promising idea to buy a mini-flat, even if it is in a trashy condition because we can gain a lot on the purchase price. And we don’t have to create it into futuristic today. The flat will wait for us, for sure!
